2026 Write From the Heart Writing Contest

We are holding our Write From the Heart Writing Contest again this year!

The Monongahela Area Library Writing Contest – Write from the Heart is looking for submissions for children, ages 10-12; teens, ages 13-17; and adults ages 18+. The deadline to submit your entry is Tuesday, March 31 and winners will be announced in early April once all submissions have been read.

Entries should be 1,400 words or less. Submissions can be in the form of poetry, fictional short story, or non-fiction essay. A prize will be awarded to each age category. You can email your submission to monongahelalib@gmail.com, subject line should read: Writing Contest. Or you can drop off your submission at the library. Please include a cover page with your entry with your name, age, address, phone number, and email. Entries submitted without contact information will be disqualified. This contest is open to patrons within our service area: Monongahela, New Eagle, Carroll Township, Union Township, Nottingham Township, and Finleyville, along with the Ringgold School District.

The subject matter is open, and the goal is to embrace the power of the written word and write from your heart. Winning entries may be published on the library’s website and/or social media.
