We offer books, media, and more for patrons to borrow for free with their library card.
The Monongahela Area Library has more than 30,800 print materials in-house for patrons and nearly 800,000 items are available to card holders through the shared catalog of the WAGGIN system, which includes Washington, Fayette, and Greene county libraries. Through a WAGGIN delivery service, most items requested are available for pick-up at your home library.
Inter-Library Loan Program
If we don't have something available you are searching for, we are part of an Inter-Library Loan Program. This program allows you to access materials from other Pennsylvania libraries (outside of Washington County). These materials are shipped to your home library. To order, you will need to stop in the library and speak with a librarian.
Online Resources
Gale courses, Libby, ScienceFlix, and POWERLibrary resources such as My Heritage, a genealogy search engine; Transparent Language, a language teaching tool; and Britannica School, an encyclopedia for Pre-K-5.
Inquire Within Program
The Monongahela Area Library is an Inquire Within library featuring programs from WQED. The program is an impactful out-of-school time program designed to encourage family engagement and a love of learning through hands-on, family-centered activities. The program supports 21st-century learners by building a community that leads and sustains a new approach to educational media. Young learners will gain STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and early literacy skills.
Computers and Wi-Fi
Thanks to a grant from the Washington County Community Foundation and a generous donation from a patron, our computer lab has six (6) desktop computers for patron use and one (1) laptop. Free WiFi during library hours is also available for patrons.
Computer Basics classes are available weekly on Tuesdays at 4 or 4:30 p.m. for ½ hour sessions. Call the library at 724-258-5409 to reserve a date and time slot.
Printing/Copying/Faxing
Black and white prints are $.15 a page, and color is $.25. To fax is $1 a page.
